OUR HOME & RIDE

We interrupt our randomly scheduled blog to give you a more in-depth look into our home "Flow" and our ride "Ebb"! Some of you may know our set up, but many do not. Inquisitive minds have come forward, and we thought it would be nice to give a quick breakdown.

”FLOW”: Flow is a 2014 Winnebago Aspect 32’ long Class C Motorhome. We have lived full time in this rig for 18 months. We have made many improvements, over the years, that have assisted us in our full time living (e.g., solar system, TV relocation, office area, etc).

The interior is 240 sq ft of livable space. Yes, we have survived 1 1/2 yrs in 240 sq ft, without killing each other 🤪. One key to this lifestyle is: “You had better like your spouse, because if you don’t, you are in big trouble!” Also, we spend a lot of time outdoors, which helps immensely! LOL

The living area includes all the components of a 1 bedroom apartment or tiny home. It is definitely an open floor plan, with living, dining and kitchen in one room. We have had many types of RVs since we married 40 years ago, so we have learned a lot about storage and how important multifunction can be.

The living room sofa makes into a bed, so others can stay with us, but most of the time it is just grandkids. This space is tight for more than 2 adults. In the RV world, a popular saying is “No more than 6 for drinks, 4 for dinner and 2 for sleeping!”. We try to live by this rule 😊.

Our ottoman doubles as our bar, which slides under the dining table during travel.

Originally, our TV was situated between the glass doors above the cab, which made it very difficult and uncomfortable to view. We (Scott) relocated the TV, which we will show later. This gave us a large area to use for office storage, printer, cameras, files etc. This area is hidden, when closed, by a canvas print of our favorite view of Southern Tides (i.e., our property in Florida).

We have tons of storage, including cabinets over the cab, where we keep our glassware and electronics. Our electronics consist of a jetpack for internet, Weboost for increasing cell signal, WiFi Camp Pro to increase wifi signals at campgrounds and a weather station. We also have a surround system with DVD player, which is basically obsolete to us, as we stream 99% of the time. Under these cabinets is the cab of the motorhome, which is used for extra storage when we are parked.

The dining area consists of the dinette, as well as the TV, which rises up and down on a Televator. We (Scott) built a matching cabinet to enclose the TV, which also includes cubbies for each of us to store our iPads, books, maps etc. When the TV is not in use, we have a large window to enjoy.

The kitchen includes all the necessities (i.e., fridge, sink, gas stove and microwave/convection oven). We (Scott, 😊) replaced all the standard fixtures with upgraded ones, including a large rectangular single sink. We try to cook outside as much as possible, but the kitchen functions well for us.

The bedroom has a substantial closet, drawers and large overhead cabinets. We actually packed too many clothes! We (Scott, again) built a shoe rack at the foot of the bed, which has been a lifesaver.

The shower, which is situated in the bedroom, is separate from the sink and toilet. This is a preferable floor plan to us. When the bathroom door is open, it provides privacy and extra space as it joins the bedroom resulting in one large area.

One wall in our bathroom is dedicated to funny bathroom pics of our 4 grandchildren. They may rebel against these one day, but so far so good. 😂😂😂

The outdoor storage is the main reason we bought this model back in 2014. The rear storage of the motorhome is enormous, probably too much as we can be pack rats at times. This storage area includes all of our outdoor cookers (i.e., grill, griddle and stove), rugs, chairs, fire pit, lights, fishing poles, etc. We also have an ice maker and a 12v refrigerator /freezer in this compartment that we can access by a side door. You name it, we have it! We definitely have Glamping covered 😜.

We had solar installed last year by Great Outdoors Solar, so that we could boondock (i.e., no hook-ups) more often and save money during our travels. The system includes (4) 210w solar panels, 3000w inverter/charger and (3) Battleborn Lithium batteries. This system has worked extremely well for us, and we are happy we made the investment. The panels on the roof are joined by the other electronic systems' antennas (i.e., WeBoost, Wifi extender, weather station and TV).

"EBB": The pack mule jeep. The jeep holds everything we can't carry in the motorhome. E-bikes, extra jackets, rain gear, first aid kit, fishing waders and more are all stored in the back of the jeep. On the top rack we have (2) Navy storage containers. One holds various fluids, cleaners, oils, etc. that we need for the vehicles and extra supplies (usually wine). The other holds an inflatable 2-person kayak. In between those containers is a portable sewer tank, in case we need to empty the motorhome. On the back of the jeep we have an upper rack that holds a cooler and (2) 6 gallon water jugs. The lower rack holds (2) gasoline cans. We (Scott, again) have collected buoys from the Wa coast and these are strapped all over the back, as they will return to Florida with us to Southern Tides.

Ebb has been rewarded with (3) ducks from fellow jeepsters! Duck Duck Jeep is a fun way to show another jeep owner that you like their ride.

Pretty sure we have left something out, but that gives you an idea of how we survive out here. LOL

We do have all the creature comforts we need and some we don't! We get lots of looks, stares and questions from fellow campers. Some have even requested a private tour!

Some say, "Wow! You have a lot of stuff!". I (Sybil) take pleasure in saying, "Have you met or do you know my husband?".

YES, SCOTT! (AGAIN) 😂😂

NEXT UP, I PROMISE: WASHINGTON AND MORE RAIN!!!
