Well, it was almost a bust! Unfortunately, one of us (Sybil) was suffering from a bad cold that the grandchildren shared. As Scott put it, "We are living in a Petri dish!", while we vacationed in Pensacola Beach. She toughed it out and we walked (over 20,000 steps, 8 miles) around the French Quarter and Garden District, enjoyed tasty beignets at Cafe Du Monde and had the beast roast beef PoBoys we have ever eaten at Parasols Bar and Restaurant.
We stayed at a Harvest Host provider, Faubourg Brewing Co, while in New Orleans. Our tanks, generator and solar provide us with enough capabilities to boondock (no hook-ups) for approximately 7-10 days.
Sadly, we had to cancel a meet-up with friends in Baton Rouge due to Sybil's cold. Just didn't want to share! 😏
We leisurely traveled through the rest of La and found a beautiful campground in Morgan City where we relaxed for the day.
Moving on down the highway, we overnighted at another Harvest Host, Poor Brothers Brewing in Beaumont Tx. Great beer and good company, as well! We met another traveling couple, Brian and Michelle of Lifes2ShortBus. Look them up on Facebook and Instagram! We enjoyed a few beers and dinner with them as we discussed RV life on the road.
Two days later, while fueling at Bucees, Brian and Michelle randomly pulled into the same gas station right next to us! What's the chance of that? The world can be very small sometimes!
Another Harvest Host, Whistling Duck Winery, was our final stop before Austin. It was a great relaxing site next to the pond, with the ducks as our company. We enjoyed the wine, as well as the entertainment.
Life feels like a vacation, however we need to slow down a little!!
NEXT UP: AUSTIN AND SAN ANTONIO
I'm so envious of y'all. Can't wait to do this one day!!
Great trip so far. So glad Sybil is feeling better. Wish I was tagging behind ya. Have fun.
