ANOTHER NATIONAL PARK & SAN FRANCISCO

Heading inland for just a short time, we arrived at one of the "lesser" known National Parks, Pinnacles National Park. There was a huge electronic sign notifying us of a 2 Hr wait time to gain entrance. So much for the "lesser" known park. Luckily, an employee was sent out to talk to those of us in RVs to see if we had reservations. We did, so we were allowed to use the outgoing lane to enter. This was actually our first experience with an entrance wait time.

The park did not disappoint with it's wildlife. Our campsite was adjacent to the entrance road and every morning there would be a march of the wild turkeys. The males would stand guard while all the females and young ate. Then in the afternoon, they would make the trek back in the opposite direction. It was absolutely fascinating and beautiful to watch. We also had visits from multiple deer, ground squirrels and a woodpecker who was actually drinking from the water spigot.

The land coming in and out of the NP consists of beautiful rolling hills which we followed back to the coast, ending up in Half Moon Bay. We exercised our bikes up and down the coast on a nice paved bike path. Signs of spring were everywhere, but we still needed our puffy jackets. And still do!!!

Half Moon Bay sits just outside of San Francisco, which allowed us to tour the city by day, but camp outside the madness in a quiet State Park. We spent the day sightseeing, visiting famous TV and movie houses, riding a streetcar/trolley, riding down Lombard St, seeing Alcatraz (i.e, from a distance) and visiting Fisherman's Wharf. It was actually a very nice day, with no issues we had been warned about regarding theft and/or safety. 😊

We went down to Baker Beach to get a good shot of the Golden Gate Bridge. We had heard that this is a "clothing optional" beach, but luckily it was a cold day and clothing was necessary. 😂😂

It was an absolutely beautiful viewpoint of the bridge.

We then located the "Painted Ladies" along the side of Alamo Square Park. These beautiful pastel painted Victorian homes have been featured in many shows/movies - most famously, "Full House". We moved on to the actual "Full House" house a few blocks away.

The "Mrs Doubtfire" house was also on our radar and was our next stop.

The next adventure, driving down the most crooked street in the world, Lombard Street. Apparently, it was built this way to soften the steepness. What's even more amazing is that people actually live on this street and endure the never ending traffic. 😳

Of course, the day would not be complete without riding on a Streetcar! We jumped on and rode from one side of the city to the other giving us great views of the city, including Alcatraz.

We called an Uber to get back to our Jeep, as we were not interested in walking up these hills. The driver told us that we needed to visit Twin Peaks Summit to see the best view of the city. Although there was a little haze, it was a gorgeous viewpoint. We seem to get great advice from Uber/Lyft drivers.

Our last day in the area found us driving over the Golden Gate Bridge in the motorhome. Not as scary as we (okay, I) thought it might be, but we were blessed with calm winds that day. Beautiful!!

NEXT UP: HOW BIG IS CALIFORNIA? SOUND FAMILIAR?

Most amazing photos Sybil! You fit a lot of site seeing into that day. Sam and Jen loved San Francisco. Don’t you love the state parks? There is so much to see in nature and fabulous weather out west. Have fun on the next leg of your journey 💕
