ALL THINGS TEXAS!

When in Texas, eat BBQ! That's what they say, so that's what we did! Found one of the oldest BBQ joints in Texas, Black's Barbecue, in Lockhart. Has been in existence since 1932. Our lunch was so delicious, we bought more for the freezer.

McKinney Falls State Park was our destination in Austin. We enjoyed several hikes at this quiet park. Our nephew, Joseph, and his girlfriend, Allison, recently moved to Austin (The reason for our visit). Joseph treated us to dinner at the Roaring Fork in the downtown area, and then we went for after dinner drinks at the Speakeasy. It was such an enjoyable evening catching up with them.

Our second day in Austin was spent hiking, enjoying a beer at the Oasis (which overlooks Lake Travis) and dinner with friends Collin and Allison at Matt's El Rancho. It was such a nice evening, even if they did sweep us out the door! 😳 It is such a pleasure to be friends with your adult children's friends! It brings a fresh perspective to our lives that we enjoy immensely.

We said goodbye to Austin and headed south to San Antonio. Our plans were to chill out and regroup the first night, but the plans changed. There is an awesome laser light show projected on the San Fernando Cathedral on Tues nights and weekends and we did not want to miss it. So glad we went downtown that night. The show is spectacular and is a "Do Not Miss" attraction. We also hung out at the Esquire Bar, which has the longest wooden bar in Texas (i.e., over 100 ft).

Finally got a bike ride in on the Riverwalk bike path and rode downtown to the Alamo (15 miles RT). This path is one of the nicest we have ever seen. Don't give us too much exercise credit on the ride, our electric bikes help us along, and we stopped at another brewery on the way home!!😁

The last night in San Antonio was "Date" night! We had a lovely dinner and prickly pear margaritas on the riverwalk at Boudro's, a boat ride down the San Antonio River and drinks riverside listening to a jazz ensemble!

Can you tell we are "Foodies" and well, "Drinkies"? Is that what they call those who like to imbibe?

Anyway, we had an awesome time in San Antonio and plan to return someday and stay awhile!!
